Calvin Mohler, a painter and art handler, originally from Annapolis Maryland,  is currently searching for a position within the fine arts world in order to build connections and learn how the industry operates firsthand. Recently graduated from SCAD, Mohler has participated in the installation process of and showed his work in many school-related and local gallery exhibitions. Through 2025 Mohler hopes to continue showing his paintings in a variety of exciting settings and make his work more accessible through print sales.

The goal of my work is to captivate the viewer, immerse them into a fantastical yet relatable world, and force them to interact with the characters present. I rework existing narratives, commonly taken from mythological sources that push the boundaries of what one believes in and perceives as real. Blending the fabricated into a, conceptually modern, more familiar realm (A realm where our modern values are projected upon characters from older myths making said characters more familiar.) so that we can understand the characters' actions and empathize with their struggles, regardless of if we recognize the scenery. (Humanizing characters from myth.)

I do so through expressive, vibrant, and dissectible oil paintings.

I encourage the viewer to sit with a piece and really consider what the presented images and symbols could mean and why something was chosen to be included. Some things may be the result of the unconscious ramblings of my mind while painting, but most things will inform the scene depicted.
